Maker Faire is an event that gives people a chance to showcase their DIY projects and emphasizes the importance of being creators and innovators rather than just consumers.

As you might imagine, when the event came to tech-savvy Japan on Dec 1st and 2nd, there was some serious gadgetry on display, including a fully functional Transformer robot from Brave Robotics.

It’s no exaggeration to say that this is exactly the toy you dreamed of as a child while watching Saturday morning cartoons. Forget your manually-operated Transformer figurines; this robot is the real deal. With just a few whirs and clicks, it smoothly shifts from stomping around on two legs to zipping around in car form.

Brave Robotics was offering 10 of the Transformers for sale at Maker Faire, with each entirely built to order for the low, low price of 1,980,000 yen (about US$24,000). OK, so maybe that isn’t exactly a bargain, but can you really put a price on fulfilling a childhood dream?!

Until you scrape together the cash, satisfy your geeky cravings by watching this video of the robot in action. Fast-forward to 0:25 to see the incredible transformation.
