kamome shokudou

Well hello there and welcome to the end of another week of cheeky news, bizarre events and groovy gadgets here on RocketNews24. Since it’s Sunday and we all finally have a chance to catch our breath, we thought we’d take a moment to look back at the week’s news and provide you with a handy list of some of our biggest stories that you may have missed. See? We’re nice like that.

This week’s title image comes from the genuinely enchanting 2006 movie Kamome Shokudou, or “Seagull Diner”, which I actually just saw for the first time last night. The film tells the story of a Japanese woman who, after losing her parents, moves to Finland to set up a cafe specialising in one of Japan’s greatest soul foods, onigiri rice balls. It’s funny, cute, and packed full of delicious food to drool over. Well worth a watch if you can find a copy online or at your local video store.

Taking the Cute Award this week is this video of Kinako, a shiba inu from Japan who likes nothing more than taking a nice, warm bath to ease her tired old legs, rubber duckies included. A full minute of happy doggy bathing after the jump.
