Three members of the same family were found collapsed with blood pouring from their heads in an apartment in Sapporo. They were all confirmed dead. Police commented that a male family member admitted to beating the victims to death with a bat.

Reports suggest that the crime took place on a first floor apartment located next to a busy road. The incident was first reported on July 11 at around 8:30 in the morning. The three victims of this attack are believed to be a husband and wife and their eldest son. The culprit is thought to be their unemployed second son, who admitted to police,

“It was me that beat them with the bat.”

The bloodstained metal bat was found in the same apartment where the crime was committed, and police are holding him in custody. It is thought that the family moved into the home only several months ago. Apparently, the second son reported the crime to police after he had perpetrated it. However, police say that his words didn’t make any sense. When questioned by the police later on, he simply replied, “I don’t want to speak. Just leave me alone.”

Just what caused the man to commit such a brutal crime remains unclear but it seems he had a history of schizophrenia. Police are continuing to investigate the crime.
