A video of a high school girl getting bullied at a public venue is causing uproar among Chinese netizens this week. The online community in China has seen their fair share of bullying videos, but this recent incident has attracted a tidal wave of attention due to a certain action taken by the oppressor to humiliate her docile victim.

The shameful act took place in Hunan province in south-central China. According to reports, four girls were involved in the one-sided cat fight – the victim, Jen (pseudonym), a high school student; two intimidators, Cai and He, both minors and working youths; and the girl behind the camera, Zhao, who is a classmate of Jen’s.

It seems Jen said something unpleasant about Cai, and Zhao played tattletale, conveying the message to her pal. Enraged, Cai then arranged for the beating on 20 October, rounding up He and Zhao to back her up. They “invited” Jen out of school, where they began to taunt and humiliate her.

The victim remains quiet throughout the video, silently suffering vicious slapping and kicks to her head. Unsatisfied with the lack of response from their prey, the wicked witches resorted to removing the girl’s undergarment in order to demean her. Cai then instigates her accomplices to upload the abusive footage online.

The video has received tremendous response since 24 October, igniting the fury among many viewers, who left comments such as:

“Those girls doing the bullying are worse than beasts!”
“As a fellow Chinese, I’m totally disgusted by their behavior.”
“What on earth have their parents been teaching them!?”
“The bullies dress like whores.”
“Scum of society.”

In the video, it looks like the poor girl was being bullied by the roadside. How the attack managed to go unreported in broad daylight baffles us, but fortunately the young lady is currently receiving proper care, partly thanks to the concerned voices of the cyber citizens. The local authorities have taken up the case, and have arranged for Jen to undergo one-on-one counseling. Arrangements for a school transfer are also said to be being made.
