Good news for those of you in Japan who’ve always wanted to see more MEAT in your hamburgers. Yes, the humongous tower of a burger we’ve mentioned several times on our site is back! It’s the Tower Cheeseburger from fast food chain Lotteria! But if you want to get your hands on one of them, you may need to get ready for some quick action, because this time, they’ll be available for just one day!

The impressive, towering burger creation, which has been sold several times in the past, has become somewhat of an iconic item for Lotteria, so much so that they’ve even been turned into USB memory sticks! The legendary burger will be making its comeback this coming Monday, October 20.

Now, don’t the thick patties and melting cheese in the picture look appetizing? While we realize fast food items rarely look like their promotional photos in real life, 500 yen (US$4.68) for a hamburger with five layers of patties and cheese doesn’t sound too bad, if you’re looking for a quick meat fix.

▼When Lotteria previously promoted the Tower Cheeseburger, they also had the “Shrimp Tree Burger” (right)  on offer, five layers of fired shrimp cutlet topped with plenty of tartar sauce! But this time, it’s just the cheeseburger that will be making a return.lotteria_01

The Japanese Internet’s response to the news seems generally positive, with a good number of people tweeting that they’d love to try it, or that the price seems to be a good value (although some people have, and perhaps with good reason, commented on the calorie and cholesterol content of such a voluminous burger!), so it looks like Lottteira can look forward to good business come October 20.

The Tower Cheeseburger goes on sale at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, so don’t miss out on this opportunity if you’ve been wanting to try the giant tower of beef and cheese … or, if you’re someone who doesn’t need a huge amount of beef to be satisfied, you can always wait for the Matsuzaka beef hamburger or Kobe beef hamburger, coming out also from Lotteria in November and next January. Either way, here’s to all that glorious beef!
