damashie

This lovely artwork of bugs and slugs is hiding something, but can you tell what it is? Take a good long look, and then if you really can’t figure it out then you can find the answer below!

The word “damashi-e“, or “deceiving picture” in Japanese, refers to an optical illusion, and since we love them here at RocketNews24 we just had to share this latest one making the rounds on Twitter.

At first glance it just looks like a painting of bugs that you might find in a nature book, but the creatures are positioned in a very particular arrangement. It’s one of those where, once you’ve seen it, you’ll wonder how you didn’t see it before. And don’t worry, it’s nothing inappropriate!

“I think this is a really good optical illusion. It took me about 30 minutes to get it. As soon as I saw it I was like ‘Aha!’. Can you tell what it’s hiding?”

Netizens generally said it took them between five and 15 minutes to see the hidden image,  but we’re pretty sure that people decrease their times by at least 10 minutes in order to save face!

“It took me about 15 minutes.”
“I got it in five! Once you’ve seen it you can’t unsee it.”
“I don’t know which part to focus on…”
“I stared at it for five minutes thinking it was facing left, but it’s actually facing right.”
“I saw it when I stood and looked from about three metres back.”

Still can’t see it? Here’s a hint: It’s a famous character.

And if you really, really can’t see it, scroll down for the answer.
