Japan is still very much a cash-based society, and it’s not at all unusual here to walk around with several hundred dollars’ worth of yen in your pocket. You can even pay for a pack of gum with a 10,000 note (US$ 84) if the mood takes you, and nobody will mind a bit. But the downside to this is that it’s really easy to amass a huge amount of loose coins, especially if you’re not diligent about paying in exact change.

A good solution is to carry a spare purse full of change, and what better option could there be than these adorable squirrel, chipmunk and hamster face purses from YOU+MORE?

The pouches come in six different varieties: Chipmunk, White Chipmunk, Golden Hamster, Panda Hamster, Djungarian Hamster, and Squirrel.

Here’s what the pouch looks like when it’s empty…

And here it is with its cheeks stuffed full of change!

The pouches cost 1,188 yen ($9.90) each, and have a soft fluffy “fur” back (don’t worry, it’s all polyester!). The six different varieties will be rotated monthly.

YOU+MORE also does a range of adorable animal bags featuring pandas, koalas, polar bears, brown bears and wolves for 3,240 yen ($27.25) each (well, you need something to keep your coin purse in, don’t you?)

The purses and bags can be purchased online via Felissimo. We kinda want to buy them all!
