Funkiness broke out on a congested highway outside Kunming City, Yunnan Province, on 22 April. As a car accident brought traffic to a standstill, thousands of motorists found themselves stranded on the asphalt with no escape in sight.

So they did all anyone could do at a time like that: get their groove on.

It’s uncertain whether someone had said up jump the boogie to the bang bang boogie or if everyone had simply let the rhythm hit’em at the same time. Nevertheless, there had been reports of isolated dance groups breaking out all along the northbound lanes.

In addition, witnesses claimed to have seen older ladies catching up on their knitting and those with limited mobility joining the fun with some rhythmic stretching.

Local merchants also descended on the stranded motorists offering their goods. It was enough to cause someone in the ministry of transportation to declare, “this is officially a party.”

The king and queen of Traffic Jam ’15 were decidedly these two unidentified dancers. Police are asking them to come forward so they can claim their prize: an I Brake for Breakin’ bumper sticker.

So, the next time you find yourself stuck bumper-to-bumper, take a cue from these happy-go-lucky souls and just dance. Probably no one will think you’re weird if this is any indication.
