Cute characters peer out at you from this limited-edition timepiece.

If you’re a fan of Studio Ghibli’s anime films and cast of magical characters, then Japan’s Donguri Kyowakoku retail chain is a must-visit destination. This is where you’ll find official merchandise like No Face piggy banks, Calcifer steamers, and now, Kiki’s Delivery Service Baby-G watches.

The Studio Ghibli and Casio collaboration is a limited-time offering, designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Kiki’s Delivery Service. The 1989 coming-of-age anime fantasy film revolves around the adventures of 13-year-old Kiki and her talking cat Jiji, and the two characters both appear on the new Baby-G.

The sturdy, minimalist design of the Baby-G comes with a stopwatch, timer, full auto-calendar, and a cute image of Kiki and Jiji peering out over the top of the display

▼ Kiki and JIji become even more noticeable when the backlight display is activated.

And on the watch strap, you’ll find another adorable image of Jiji, and this time the open-mouthed cat appears to be in mid-sentence, as if in conversation with the wearer.

▼ The back of the watch itself also reveals some gorgeous details, including a special 30th anniversary collaboration logo.

The beautiful attention to detail extends to the presentation box included with each purchase.

While the watch goes on sale at Donguri Kyowakoku stores around Japan from 12 April for 15,800 yen (US$142.13), the limited-edition timepiece can currently be pre-ordered online. Like many limited-edition Ghibli merchandise, these watches look set to be highly popular so if you want to spend your days checking the time with Kiki and Jiji, be sure to order ahead of the release to avoid missing out!
