Bathe with some famous Japanese icons, including sushi, ninjas, and Godzilla.

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has come a long way since it opened its first store in Poole, England, back in 1995. The privately owned company now has approximately 930 stores in 49 countries and regions around the world, and here in Japan the brand is hugely successful, with 85 stores nationwide.

As a testament to their popularity in Japan, Lush opened the world’s first bath bomb concept store in Tokyo’s trendy Harajuku last November. Dedicated solely to creating and selling bath bombs, the Harajuku store created over 50 exclusive bath bombs, which were unavailable to purchase online or anywhere else in the world.

Now, though, to celebrate 30 years since the company made its first bath bomb in 1989, Lush will be releasing the Japan-exclusive range online and in stores worldwide for a limited time. With its rich bathing culture, Japan has inspired a large number of bath bombs in the 54-piece range, which will be available around the world from 29 March until the start of summer.

There will still be some bath bombs that can only be purchased at the Harajuku store, though, including these most recent creations, which went on sale on 22 March.

The kokedama (moss ball) smells like a fresh lagoon, and presents a new step forward for bath bombs with the novel addition of fresh green stems.

The fruity and floral Dragon will dance in hot water and reenergise you with flames of passion and glimmering dragon scales when you’re feeling burnt out.

The Temple In The Sky dissolves into white clouds across a blue sky with a streak of gold, while scenting your skin with notes of orange and Sicilian lemon.

 

The Shimokobai is styled on the traditional Japanese confection of the same name, which resembles a mid-winter plum blossom covered in frost. This bath bomb contains a combination of peach and fragrant olive, to recreate the scent of fruit blossoms blowing in the breeze.

Roar resembles Godzilla, which promises to awaken your senses with its musky, herbal scent created from green tea and peppermint oil.

The Black Ninja will give off the scent of geranium and patchouli, and use ninjutsu-like moves to dart around your bathtub while exploding with bursts of silver, accompanied by popping sounds to resemble the throwing of shuriken throwing stars.

Lush bath bombs are a great gift for anyone at any time of the year, but the Japan-exclusive range are hugely sought-after by local and international tourists alike. Plus, they’re coveted by Tokyo’s Harajuku girls, who have a special talent for knowing what’s on trend, so keep an eye out for the collection coming to a store near you soon!
