Breasts and boba balls take over the Internet as cleavages become drink holders across the country.

Tapioca bubble teas are absolutely booming in Japan right now. And if past trends have taught us anything, it’s that whenever something becomes popular here, it doesn’t take long for fan art to start appearing in honour of it.

That fan art appeared on Twitter this week, when Kiseki Himura (@Strangestone), a Japanese illustrator and creator of weekly Twitter illustration series Getsuyoubi no Tawawa (Tawawa on Monday) posted this image online.

If the image looks familiar, that’s because this is the same web series that kicked off the viral Tawawa Challenge in 2016, which inspired thousands of people around the world to balance their smartphones on their chests. Himura’s tapioca image has created an all-new challenge for 2019, as people everywhere are now balancing bubble teas on their breasts, and sketching their favourite characters taking part in the dare as well.

Here we have Rize and Chiya from Is The Order A Rabbit? showing off their hands-free skills, although Sharo on the end finds herself left out…

Miku Nakano from The Quintessential Quintuplets takes up the tapioca challenge…

As does Kanako Mimura from THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls and THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage.

It wasn’t long before people in the real world started taking on the hands-free challenge as well, sharing photos…

The no-hands tapioca bubble tea challenge is growing day by day, with people from around the world now joining in with their own photos and videos. If you think you have what it takes to take part, don’t forget to share your photos with the hashtag #手放しタピオカ (tebanashi tapioca), which translates to “no-hands tapioca”.

And if you’re really looking to stand out from the rest of the crowd, why not try balancing a tapioca beer on your bust as well?
