Mother’s Day is just around the corner for people who live in countries such as Japan, America, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and China, among others. A Taiwanese high school teacher recently made the students call up their mothers, encouraging them to verbally express their love and appreciation.
What should have been a touching and precious moment, however, turned out to be a hilarious situation when one mum hurled some vulgarities back at her son instead!
Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May in Taiwan, and a teacher at Qiying High School in Taoyuan County came up with an activity in class to encourage her students to express their appreciation towards their mothers by calling mum to tell her “I love you”.
In a normal situation, one would imagine that Mum would be very happy and touched, and perhaps even get a little teary, when her child calls to express his/her love. However, one mum seemed to be so shocked by her son’s sudden love confession, her first reaction was to hurl vulgarities at her son, causing an outbreak of laughter in class.
Mum: Hello?
Son: Hello, Mum?
Mum: Yes?
Son: It’s almost May…
Mum: What do you mean it’s almost May?
Son: Well, Mother’s Day is coming soon…
Mum: What?!
Son: I said Mother’s Day is coming soon!
Mum: What do you want?
Son: I just wanted to tell you, “I love you”.
Mum: F*ck you, you damn brat. (This isn’t exactly what she said, so please forgive us for not translating it word for word as what she said is simply… too intense.)
– Class breaks out into laughter –
Son: Mum! My whole class is listening to this…
Mum: What’s this about?!
Son: My teacher’s here and you just spouted vulgarities… *facepalm*
Mum: What’s going on?!
Son: Nothing! It’s all right…
Mum: All right all right, I love you too.
Son: Yeah, I love you Mum.
When the teenager was interviewed a couple of days later, he explained that he is very close to his mother, they’re just like best friends, that’s why she reacted that way. We guess she must have been really surprised! Perhaps she thought it was a prank call. This is probably a Mother’s Day she’ll never forget.
▼ “She usually doesn’t use such uncouth language, I got shocked too.”
Some students got all emotional and teary as they thanked their mothers for their unconditional care and love.
When was the last time you said “I love you” to a loved one? If you did so recently, kudos to you! If you haven’t said it in a long while, perhaps today is a good time to express your love! We totally understand how embarrassing it can be to voice out those words, especially if you haven’t said it in years, but after watching this video clip, don’t you think it’ll be interesting to see how they react to it? Give it a go!
