Personal tastes are just that: Personal. What gets one person going is likely to leave someone else bored — and there’s nothing wrong with that of course. I’d be awfully sad if everyone liked strawberry ice cream as much as I do because then there’d be none left for me.
And nothing shows this quite as much as men and their body hair. More specifically, how Japanese women feel about body hair on certain parts of the male anatomy. We are, of course, talking about shins and armpits! (Why? What were you thinking?)
One of our favorite things here at RocketNews24 is surveys. Partly it’s because we just love numbers and part of it is seeing how people, in general, feel about random stuff. Today we bring you the results of a survey which asked roughly 200 Japanese women in their 20s and 30s these very important questions: “How do you feel about men without hair on their shins?” and “How do you feel about men without hair in their armpits?”
To begin, let’s see how these Japanese women felt about their men’s shins!

47.5 percent of the respondents said they had a positive impression of such men.
52.5 percent of the respondents said they had a negative impression of these men.
It’s not quite a perfect split, but it’s close enough to say that there’s roughly a 50-50 chance that a Japanese woman will like men with hairless shins. For a bit more information on how the respondents felt, here are a few of the comments collected with the survey.
◆ The Pro Hairless Shins Posse ◆
“If they’re too hairy, it’s like bugs could get caught in it, and that’s gross.”
“It makes me think they’re someone with attention to detail.”
“I really just don’t want to see shin hair! It’s better to just shave it all off.”
“If they have nice skin, it’s look beautiful.”
◆The Anti Hairless Shins Posse◆
“I start imagining them shaving or waxing and it’s just gross!”
“I just think it looks too girly and feminine.”
“It’s not bad, but if a guy is too pretty, imagine how it makes the woman feel!”
“Guys without hair just seem like their missing some of their manliness.”
While shin hair got a fairly evenly divided response, when it comes to armpit hair, the results were a bit more skewed.
[tweet https://twitter.com/24miuJSB/status/604240007084167168 align=center]In responding the question “What is your impression of men without armpit hair?”
38 percent of the respondents said they had a positive impression of such men.
62 percent of the respondents said they had a negative impression of such men
That’s not quite, but very nearly, two-thirds of the 200 Japanese women polled! It’s not exactly overwhelming agreement, but it is quite a bit more than a simple majority. The reasons given were basically the same as for naked shins, though one respondent said, “It’s just expected that men would have hairy armpits.”
So, we guess that if you’re trying to woo a fair Japanese lass this summer, letting the breeze run through your armpit and shin hair might not be a bad option, statistically speaking!
