Certainly Armstrong wasn’t the only person that expected Psy to fade into one-hit-wonder obscurity, but he was supposedly so angry at Psy’s sophomore international effort, that he took to his Instagram account to rant about it, uploading a photo of Psy with the following caption:
“This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it’s gone, it comes back. #herpes #flareup #pleasegoaway.”
Armstrong may be jealous of more than just Psy’s success; Newsday reported recently that a large public broadcaster in South Korea banned the new Gentleman video for its depiction of Psy casually kicking over a No Parking sign, which is by far a more punk rock move than anything Armstrong has done since the early 90s.
True to his newest hit’s title, Psy proved a perfect, if slightly confused, gentleman towards the insult, telling Fuse – after asking the meaning of herpes – that he thinks, “It’s cool. He said I’m like the herpes… that keeps coming back. I think it’s really cool. Thank you.”
