Yes, there is Baskin Robbins in Japan, where it’s known by the locals as just saati wan, or “31.” Just like at locations in the U.S., Baskin Robbins Japan offers free samples of flavors on tiny little pink plastic tasting spoons.
Of course, for some people the single bite offered by the taster spoon may not be enough to properly judge whether or not the newest member of the ice cream chain’s constantly evolving ice cream line-up is worth ordering. If only there was a way to try a whole scoop for free.
Well, now there is.
With a crazy English title that illustrates the company’s dedication to the Japanese market, for the month of August Baskin Robbins Japan will be holding the Challenge the Triple promotion.
Customers who order two scoops of ice cream can get a third flavor of their choice absolutely free. It’s the perfect deal for people on the fence about trying the seasonal Suika (Watermelon) Summer, a sorbet with pieces of chocolate, that goes on sale next month. Although if you can’t get fully behind watermelon-flavored everything, you and I operate on very different wavelengths.
▼ How could you say no to this?
The promotion is good for both cones and cups, although only customers ordering cups to-go get a free block of dried ice to keep their treat from melting on the way home.
Best of all, there’s no limit to how many times you can take advantage of the Challenge the Triple deal. With 31 days in August, if you hit one Baskin Robbins a day, you could actually eat the whole menu for free. Sure, you’d also have paid for it twice, but hey, it’s ice cream, which we’d say is money well spent.
