One of the few fun things about having a sore throat or something nastier like tonsillitis is that you have a legitimate excuse to lie on the couch in front of the TV and eat ice-cream.

And now – although we’re imagining makers Häagen-Dazs is hoping that more than just the sickly few will appreciate it – there’s a brand new flavour that sounds perfect for those feeling a little under the weather: Lemon Ginger Float.

A combination of thick, milky ice cream and lemon ginger sorbet containing actual lemon zest, this mini tub is bound to cure what ails ya*. Available for a limited time only (don’t worry, there are plenty of other flavours to take its place), the mini-cups go on sale from today in Japan priced 263 yen (US$2.50) excluding tax.

▼ Be sure to stress the health benefits of ginger and lemon when asking your loved one to go out and buy this for you

Even if you’re not feeling ill, you might as well pick up a few tubs of this just in case. After all, there’s no use waiting until you’re poorly and in urgent need of throat-soothing sustenance, now is there?

*provided what ails ya also doesn’t prevent you from watching repeats of Seinfeld or back-to-back episodes of Game of Thrones.
