Living in Japan, we realize we’re pretty blessed when it comes to special burgers and cool comic book fast food tie-ins. But while we’re deeply grateful for our black burgers and giant-sized Attack on Titan French fry buckets, today, we’re not hiding our envy of Hong Kong’s fast food scene, since right now, that’s the only place where you can get a Batman Burger.
If you’re the kind of cynical person who watches movies as much to poke fun at the plot holes as to enjoy the narrative, we should really catch a flick together sometime. We could watch The Dark Knight, and trade wisecracks about how Bruce Wayne straight up kidnaps a dude in Hong Kong, and the Chinese government never raises a stink after one of their citizens disappears and his dead body turns up on American soil.
Well, the caped crusader is back in Hong Kong again, only this time he’s on a more benign mission. Instead of expanding his brand of vigilante justice across national borders, he’s swooping into McDonald’s.
As part of its Halloween promotion, McDonald’s branches in Hong Kong are dressing up the packages of the Diner Double Beef burger and cheese fries. And while the food itself doesn’t look substantially different from the Japanese versions we’ve eaten, we’d still like to get our hands on those awesome boxes.
Speaking of awesome, here’s the commercial, which teaches us how to say “Justice League” in Chinese.
Sadly, the Bat Burger and Bat Fries aren’t available in Japan. So if any of you happen to be in the city, could you track down that Bat Signal shown in the commercial and swing it over our way, just for a couple of hours?
After all, Chibatman’s scooter can’t get him across the ocean to pick an order to-go.
