Typically, nail art in Japan is bold and colorful or just plain huge, but it turns out neither are requisites to being impressive! Sometimes small can be just as amazing as big (at least that’s what we tell ourselves), and one Twitter user has gone a long way to proving that with her diminutive and delicate nail art, created by literally carving the tips of her nails!

In addition to posting a host of Disney illustrations, it turns out @huwahuwamoyashi is also a skilled nail artist, but her work is a bit different from the typical manicure you might find in Harajuku. Take her recent tweet of a Mickey Mouse nail for example:

▼ “I made Mickey by cutting my nails.”

In another tweet, @huwahuwamoyashi explained that she did the cutting using a utility knife and nail clippers. We’re going to go out on a limb and guess that utility knives aren’t the typical tool of choice for most nail technicians…

▼ “Amazing! What did you use to do the cutting?”
“Nail clippers and a utility knife!”

In another tweet, the Twitter user revealed that, despite what we assume must have been hours of work, she was going to cut the cute little Mickey off her finger right after taking the picture since it would get in the way.

Another Twitter user also posted an image with Mickey Mouse superimposed on @huwahuwamoyashi’s nail art to help others more clearly see the outline. In case you’re having trouble seeing everything (it can be difficult to make out the details), this should help!

Though this seems to be the first time @huwahuwamoyashi has gotten the attention she clearly deserves, the Twitter user has carved other Disney-inspired pieces of nail art in the past. For example, here’s Olaf adorning her finger nail last October…

And here’s Arial from The Little Mermaid. This piece apparently only took about 30 minutes to complete!

As impressive as this nail art is, it’s not @huwahuwamoyashi’s main artistic medium. In fact, her Twitter feed is full of illustrations that range from pencil drawings to full color work, like the ones below!

Now, we just hope @huwahuwamoyashi will decide to open her own nail carving salon. She might have to charge a high premium for her time, but we bet she could take nail art to whole new level! Maybe Cool Japan could give her some funding?
