In a video as puzzling as it is impressive, a Japanese man in a Frieza costume and facial make-up skillfully drums to the hit anime theme song.
Who ever said that getting violently exploded and then revived as a robot, and then getting sliced in half with a sword should prevent you from learning a musical instrument? Well, if this video is any indication, Frieza, that androgynous supervillain notorious for his intergalactic antics, has been proving the naysayers wrong by keeping busy after his ill-fated run as one of Goku’s deadliest foes on Dragon Ball Z. Actually, wait a second. This guy looks familiar.
OK, well it turns out that this isn’t actually Frieza, but Japanese YouTuber, Zack TheWasted. In this clip, he apparently calls himself “Freezack”.
▼ Now that’s a lot of stamina!
And while some might think it more fitting that a man dressed as the iconic Frieza play along to Chala Head Chala, this skilled drummer has opted for a more contemporary choice in music, providing some skillful percussive accompaninent to the song “Guren no Yumiya“ (“The Scarlet Arrow”) by the Japanese group Linked Horizon. Anime fans will probably know this song as the first of two intro songs to the action-packed series, Attack on Titan. With its intense riffs and epic singing, the song lends itself well to the high-energy drumming this musician offers.
▼ DBZ meets Attack on Titan: still better than The Flintstones Meet the Jetsons.
Attack on Titan has taken the world by storm since its debut in manga form in 2009. Since then, the popular series, created by Hajime Isayama, has successfully made the transition to television with a well-received 25-episode anime series debuting in 2013, as well as a not-so-well-received multi-part live-action series of movies in more recent years. What better way to celebrate the recent announcement of a long-overdue second season than watching this video?
