ATM mysteriously withdraws itself and explodes in China

Sep 4, 2013

China is increasingly becoming a real-life Maximum Overdrive with machines and items such as mobile phones, toilets, bus windows, buses, cans of cola, and cigarettes have all lashed out at their fleshy masters.

And now, at around 2:00 a.m. in Fujian Province, the automated teller machine of a credit union exploded blowing out nearby windows but injuring none. It would appear the joke was on this machine as it didn’t know most people sleep at that time of day.

The explosion must have been pretty big as it completely shattered the front window of the building, another window on the fourth floor, and the window of a van parked nearby. This particular machine was mounted on the outside wall of the bank.

Although authorities would normally first suspect a robbery attempt, all of the money was intact and accounted for. The investigation is still ongoing, and it is reported that the credit union is located in an area with a high level of foot traffic.

Perhaps this teller got tired of the grueling 24-hour schedule of its line of work and decided to end it all in a blaze of glory. Too bad it could get holidays and weekend evenings off like UFJ bank machines of Japan seem to get all the time… lazy bastards.
