Each prefecture in Japan has its own claim to fame when it comes to locally produced products. Whether it’s lemons or sea salt, you’re sure to find something delicious sprinkled around the country. With this in mind, the Lawson chain of convenience stores has just announced eight roll cakes that each feature two different flavors from across Japan.

Starting October 1, Lawson will begin selling their eight locally sourced “half & half” cream cakes for 180 to 230 yen (US$1.80 to $2.30). Let’s take a look at the unique flavor combinations:

▼  Melon from Furano City and Honeysuckle from Nayoro City, Hokkaido

▼  Red Apple from Aomori Prefecture & Salt from Miyagi Prefecture

▼  Blueberries from Gunma Prefecture & cream cheese from Nagano Prefecture

▼  Sweet potato from Ishikawa Prefecture & milk from Gifu Prefecture

▼  Uji matcha from Kyoto Prefecture & milk from Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture

▼  Sudachi citrus from Tokushima Prefecture & lemon from Hiroshima Prefecture

▼  Melon & strawberry from Kumamoto Prefecture

▼  Muscovado brown sugar and hirami lemon from Okinawa Prefecture

Since each roll cake is available at your local Lawson convenience store, you can get a little taste of Japan’s prefectures without having to travel around the country. Happy tasting!
