Animesia is a project combining two things dear to the hearts of the Japanese – anime and food. The title itself is a play on the word anime and the casual Japanese word for food, meshi. Run by The Association of Japanese Animations, it aims to turn the 2D dishes seen in your favourite animes into real, edible morsels, for a limited time only!

The anime food and recipe exhibition will be held from February 11 – 16 at Tokyo Anime Center in Akihabara. So far eight dishes and their recipes have been announced.

Here’s the menu, along with the anime each dish is featured in:

▼ So that’s what a tank cake looks like.

And you can eat some of these creations at participating stores on the restaurant street AKIBAICHI in the Akihabara UX building where the anime center is located. You can also get a special limited edition ‘lunch mat’ with your order!

So far we know that the ‘Meat sauce spaghetti’ and ‘Lupin’s Prosciutto di San Daniele ham’ will be available at Italian restaurant ‘chiocciol@ pizzeria‘ for 2,400 yen (US$23.43) and 2,000 yen ($19.52) respectively. Further participating stores and additions to the menu will be announced on the website. If the combo of anime plus food hits the right spot for you, get on down to Akiba now! Om nom nom.
