“You know that robot with the bald white head?” “Don’t worry, I got you, fam.”

We’ve seen robots helping out at farms, reception desks, and even driving taxis, but now they’re entering one place you probably never expected: barber shops.

Pepper the sassy robot is now being installed at MEN’S HAIR PERCUT barbershop in Tokyo. What exactly is Pepper doing there? Why, helping you look fabulous, of course!

Here’s a video by PERCUT to show what the “Pepper consultation” looks like:

▼ “Oh my, have you ever looked at yourself in a mirror?
We’ve got a lot of work to do with you.”

▼ To help make suggestions, Pepper will ask some
questions like which kind of sideburns you’d prefer.

▼ Pepper is very excited that you chose to set
your sideburns free and let them cover your ears.

▼ Yes! Perfect. I’ll take his hairstyle, his facial structure,
and his nice-looking clothes, too.

▼ Pepper watching on, making sure there are
no human errors during the haircutting process.

PERCUT has several goals with implementing Pepper into their stores. First, they want to help make waiting time more enjoyable for customers by giving them something to do. Next, they want to make it easier for their male customers to pick new styles, rather than just going with the same old thing they’ve gotten since middle school. And lastly, they want Pepper to make people excited about going to the barber.

Will PERCUT achieve their goals? If you’re a dude in the Tokyo area who’s ready to have a new style suggested by a robot, then check it out yourself and see.
