Can you spot the phone? The picture puzzling the world is now driving Japanese people crazy too!

Jul 11, 2016

Believe it or not, there really is an iPhone hidden somewhere on that carpet.

The latest optical illusion to sweep the internet appeared online last week, when Jeya May Cruz, a Facebook user from the Philippines, posted this photo on her page, inviting people to “look for the cellphone” hidden within the image.

Since appearing on Facebook, the photo has been shared more than 17,000 times and liked by more than 127,000 users, many of whom have been staring at the puzzle for over half an hour, struggling to see where the phone has been hidden.

Now the image has made its way to Japan, with this tweet from Twitter user @L20112014, who received the picture from her mother with the message “iPhone wo mitsukete ne” or “Find the iPhone“. It took her ten minutes to discover where the phone was hiding.

People in Japan are having just as hard a time as everyone else across the world trying to solve the puzzle.

“I’ve been staring at this for over an hour and I still can’t find it!”
“It drove me crazy trying to find it. Can I have my sleep back?”
“Is it honestly there?”
“I found it but I probably won’t be able to sleep with this image in my head all night”
“Please tell us the answer!”

If you’ve been straining your eyes trying to solve the puzzle and want to know where it’s hidden, then read on. If you’re not ready to find the answer just yet, beware the spoiler that’s coming up!

It took us about twenty minutes to find where the well-camouflaged phone was hidden so we can assure you it’s really there.

And now for the answer…

It’s located on the dark strip of carpet on the right-hand side of the right table leg. Can you see it?

The flowers on the phone are the only giveaway, as they’re different to the flowers on the dark strip of carpet. If it took you a while to find, don’t worry – some people have been finding the object in just ten minutes, but others have given up after an hour of trying! How long did it take you to solve the puzzle?
