Häagen-Dazs Japan gives us glorious Banana Chocolate ice cream

May 22, 2017

Chocolate and banana in ice cream form? Okay, just take our money already!

Häagen-Dazs Japan has done it again. They recently announced a new flavor in their line of mini cup ice creams, and we have to say, it sounds absolutely heavenly.

The new flavor “Banana Chocolata” is sure to attract the attention of ice cream lovers, because well, what’s not to love about banana and chocolate, right?

The Banana Chocolata ice cream will combine a flavorful banana sorbet made from completely ripe bananas with a subtly bitter chocolate ice cream. With a milk fat content of 5.5 percent and fruit/fruit juice content of 21 percent, the ice cream promises to be a rich yet refreshing dessert with a luxurious feel.

The response on the Japanese Internet seems to be quite positive, which we guess is understandable considering that chocolate-covered bananas (and chocolate-filled bananas) have long been a popular snack in Japan. Internet users have posted comments such as, “Häagen-Dazs ice cream seems a bit pricey so I usually don’t buy it, but this is one flavor that I might like to try,” and “I love bananas and I love chocolate. I’ll definitely be getting this.”

The Banana Chocolata ice cream will be available for 294 yen (US$2.64) for a 110 ml (3.7 oz) mini cup at supermarkets, convenience stores, and department stores across Japan starting June 27, so we still have a bit of a wait until we see them on the market, but it seems like there will be plenty of people waiting for its release in anticipation.

If you’re going to be in Japan, having some Banana Chocolata along with some Japanese citrus-flavored Häagen-Dazs could be the perfect cool treat to beat the heat this summer!
