“On that day, the writers of RocketNews24 received a grim reminder. We lived in the shadows of the Titans and had to become the Titans themselves to live in these cages we called the Internet.”

Free Attack on Titan face packs?! Of course we had to try it! We even made some customizations in an attempt to give Satosshi a run for his money, but alas, it seems that none of us have attained his level of Rocket-ness as of yet. Check out our titanic beauty experience after the break!

One of the awesome things about Japanese magazines, especially beauty and fashion magazines, is that they often come packed with all sorts of freebies such as tote bags, coin pouches, cosmetic product samples and the like. The June issue of beauty magazine VOCE came with something that tickled the fancy of the beauty-conscious Attack on Titan fans – a Colossal Titan face pack produced in collaboration with the makers of the super popular Kabuki Face Pack, Isshindo Honpo.

▼ The goodies that come along include one Colossal Titan face pack and one Levi postcard illustrated by Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama.

Containing 22ml of skin-pampering serum formulated with hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamin C derivatives and a bunch of other fruit and botanical extracts, the face pack claims to “moisturize your skin, leaving it firm and lustrous”. Okay, sounds like a good deal… but who cares about that now, we just wanna turn into titans!

▼Before

▼ Titanize!

If you’ve never used a face pack before, you’re usually supposed to leave it on for about 15 minutes or longer to benefit from the skin care effects. And so, since we had some time on our hands… this happened.

▼ It’s the Bearded Titan!

▼ Attempting to make the titans less terrifying, more moe.

▼ With hair this fabulous, Preston totally owns the Colossal Titan.

We also went the extra mile to get more bang for the buck with the Attack on Titan Digital Photo Sticker app (進撃の巨人 デジタルフォトステッカー), also produced by the Attack on Titan publishers Kodansha, which allows you to decorate your photos with characters and scenes from the hit manga series!

*The app is free to download and is available for both iOS and Android platforms.

And finally, for the benefit of the skin care enthusiasts who are reading this and wondering if the face pack did any good to our skin, I personally thought that it felt rather nice and had decent moisturizing effects, though the serum has a fairly rich texture and leaves your skin slightly sticky even after you’ve removed the mask for some time. Of course, you can always choose to rinse it off if that bothers you.

▼ Moist dewy skin? Must be all that steam from the appearance of the Colossal Titan.

▼ The manly duo, however, were more turned off than impressed with the richness of the serum.

“It didn’t seem to do much good…actually the ‘after’ picture looks worse to me. It just made my face gooey and shiny. Also it wouldn’t stick to my beard and just hung into my mouth. >_<” – Master Blaster

“It’s so gross…” – Preston Phro

Levi fans who, like our two Rocket boys, don’t have an interest in skin care items, there’s a special mini edition of the VOCE magazine that features an awesome illustration of Levi on the cover so you might want to get that instead!

The VOCE mini does not come with the face pack nor the Levi postcard, but on the brighter side of things, it’s 90 yen cheaper than the regular issue (the contents are the same), which retails for 690 yen (US$5.80).
