We stick to our New Year’s resolutions for eating healthy with a fukubukuro from the biggest sandwich chain in the world.
With more than 30,000 restaurants in over 100 countries, Subway has made a name for itself as the largest single-brand restaurant chain in the world. As one of the healthiest fast food options out there, its range of sandwiches is a tasty way to indulge in a guilt-free snack over the New Year period, so we stopped by for a healthy feed and while we were at it, we picked up one of their limited-edition fukubukuro.
Retailing for 2,300 yen (US$19.60), the lucky bag contains a voucher for five drinks, up to a retail price of 800 yen each, and sandwich tickets for a raw ham and mascarpone, a shrimp and avocado and a premium roast beef sub. That’s much more than 2,300 yen back in our pocket already!
▼ Also inside was a cute little pouch and a good quality quilted tote bag.
The cute design on the zippered pouch features sandwich fillings like tomatoes and cucumbers, complete with the name of the popular restaurant chain on the front.
▼ The quilted tote bag was a nice compact size, which makes it good for holding small drinks or for taking bento lunch boxes to work.
▼ The lining has the same design as the outside of the pouch, so the two can be used together as a cute set.
Surprisingly, the Subway fukubukuro isn’t available at all outlets, so if you come across this lucky bag, be sure to pick it up while you can. While the vouchers have to be used at the store where the lucky bag was purchased from, the whole set is great value, making this one of our favourite annual purchases. With last year’s bag containing a sweet blanket, we can’t wait to see what they’ll have in store for us next year!
