One month before the commercial release of ‘Omega Ruby’ and ‘Alpha Sapphire’, The Pokémon Company has announced demo versions – available next week!
To get your hands on that demo, you’ll need a special code – and depending on where you live, your options for getting hold of one are a little different. Join us after the jump to find out more!
It looks like the demo game will tie in with the full games pretty nicely. You’ll be able to carry over your items from the demo into the full version, as well as one special Pokémon.
‘Omega Ruby’ and ‘Alpha Sapphire’ are remakes of the original 2003 Game Boy Advance games that promise updated graphics, more mega evolutions, and the new ‘Soar’, which allows you to fly anywhere in Hoenn on the back of an Eon Pokémon.

To get your hands on that Special Demo Version, you’ll need to get a code. American fans probably have the easiest route: join the free Pokémon Trainer Club and sign up for its newsletter before October 20.
Fans in the UK will have to register on the Nintendo Life website to get one of 250 download codes available on the hour, every hour, between 10am and 9pm for the next ten days, unless you’ve already got a code via a website offer or are headed to MCM comic-con. Brits also have to wait just a little longer for the actual game, which is released on November 28, one week after its launch in Japan and North America.
In Japan, meanwhile, the code for the demo version is only available with the November edition of CoroCoro Comic. The monthly kids’ manga magazine has a long-standing relationship with the Pokémon franchise – in Japan, ‘Pokémon Blue’ was sold exclusively to CoroCoro subscribers for three years before going on general release in 1999.
CoroCoro will be hoping for a sales boost like the one they saw earlier this year, when Youkai Watch medals were bundled in with the September issue. For the first time in four years, the magazine sold over one million copies.
