New series of posters are total Ghibli cosplay goals.
Studio Ghibli’s 2001 anime film Spirited Away is set to officially premiere in cinemas around China from 21 June, following in the footsteps of My Neighbour Totoro, which premiered there in December last year.
While reports claim that the long-standing political tension between China and Japan is the main reason why no Studio Ghibli film had ever officially been screened in the country before, the two countries now appear to be putting their differences aside for a Ghibli lovefest like no other.
It all started with a unique Totoro promotional poster, which was followed by some glorious poster art in honour of Spirited Away, and now the voice actors behind the new Chinese dub have stepped out into the limelight to recreate some of the most iconic moments from the film.
The all-star cast bring the characters from Spirited Away to life through their voice work, but these new promotional posters show they have a knack for totally embodying the characters they play too, with some beautiful sets and costumes creating a gorgeous series of images in honour of the film.
▼ Playing No Face is 24-year-old singer and actor Peng Yuchang.

▼ The main character of Sen/Chihiro is played by 27-year old actress Zhou Dongyu.
▼ Kamaji, the humanoid spider who operates the boiler room of the Bathhouse, will be played by film director, producer and actor Tian Zhuangzhuang.
▼ And Yubaba and Zeniba will be voiced by 48-year-old actress Wang Lin.

While Chinese audiences are familiar with the films of Studio Ghibli, it’s been a long 18-year wait for the official release of Spirited Away to arrive in their country. And with local Chinese media confirming that three more Studio Ghibli films are scheduled for release in China–namely Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle and The Wind Rises–we can’t wait to see the next lot of voice actors stepping out in Ghibli cosplay too!
