In Japan, people generally eat jellyfish, not decorate with them, but if you are the kind of person who eschews conventional interior design, you’ll want to have a look at these charming hanging lamps made by California-based Roxy Russel Designs. Faithfully modeled on real jellyfish, these translucently luminous creations will enchant even the most jelly-phobic decorators.
The Medusae Series offers four styles: the gracefully bulbous Medusa, the gorgeous and delicate Polyp, the slightly ghostly Hydra, and the flower-like Ophelia.
All are made from a white powder-coated mylar, giving them a soft look that begs to be touched. Which might be part of the reason the designer recommends you hang them as high as possible.

Polyp
Hydra
Ophelia
The lamps are available on the Roxy Russel website for US$375, $425, $425, and $325, respectively, with international shipping available.
Now’s your chance to have the underwater grotto you’ve always wanted.
