MonoMax, a Japanese fashion magazine for men in their thirties, is giving away a free Coach travel clock in their January issue to celebrate the magazine’s six year anniversary. The issue was released on December 10 for 890 yen (US$8.90). Nine bucks for a designer clock?! We had to buy one and check it out!
Not having any friends who seemed like they were going to buy her a Coach anything, our reporter who spotted the freebie decided to buy the magazine herself.
Excitedly, she tore open the package and there it was, a genuine Coach travel clock. She smiled, pleased that she scored such a high-class freebie.
Examining it, she felt that the design was perfect for traveling; compact and able to stand up when unfolded. The Coach brand name was written right in the center of the clock face and even came with a battery, so our reporter was able to use it immediately.
After examining her freebie and setting the time, our reporter realized that the quality of the Coach travel clock wasn’t as good as the items sold in the Coach store (she said she’d be mad if she had bought it), but it was freeee! She was overcome with a sense of satisfaction from getting a Coach brand clock without having to pay anything. She claims she would have wanted the men’s magazine with or without the freebie, but we’re not so convinced. Her elation upon buying her copy of MonoMax and immediately bypassing the articles, going straight for the Coach travel clock, isn’t doing her any favors in proving she didn’t buy the magazine just for the freebie.
