Earlier this year, we gave you a photo tour of Steam Garden 8, showing off the incredible fashion and craftwork on display. Needless to say, we had a great time and were blown away by the detail that went into everyone’s outfits. Sadly, we weren’t able to get any video for you, but today’s you lucky day, because a video showing off some of the participants in full, fantastic attire has just been released!
We also have some information about the next Steam Garden event, scheduled for August. If you’re bummed you missed the last one, here’s you chance to slip into (or bolt on) your best steampunk gear and go adventuring!
Featuring music by the Japanese rock band KAO=S, the Steam Garden video was filmed and produced by Rescue the Princess, which also reports on events like Tokyo Game Show and cosplay conventions. The five-minute video provides some beautiful images of the February event we attended and should inspire you if you’re struggling to come up with a good steampunk outfit of your own!
And once you’re properly inspired, get to work, because the next Steam Garden even is less than two months away. To be held on August 1 at Daikanyama Unit, the event, which will be called Steam Garden: The Lost Pyramid, will be “set” in 1902 and will feature an Egyptian theme. As before, admission is 4,000 yen (2,000 yen for those 15 years of age or younger) and the event will run from 14:00 to 17:00. The event will feature magic, bellydancers, a mad scientist’s secret lab and a hookah corner to help you relax.
Get stitchin’!
You can learn more about the Steam Garden story, characters, and event on their official website. Also, be sure to follow them on Twitter to keep up to date with all their announcements.
