Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) has announced that it will begin selling a premium brand of cigarettes for smokers who enjoy a rich aroma. The brand, called “The Peace”, will begin a gradual country-wide roll-out on February first.
A pack of 20 cigarettes will set you back 1000 yen, more than doubling the price of JT’s previously most expensive brand Peace Infinity (470 yen).
The Peace is made from 100 percent Virginia tobacco, which is known for its mellowness and rich aroma. Additionally, it is the first Japanese cigarette to use the “new trimming” manufacturing process, which removes any bitterness by flash heating the finely cut tobacco leaves.
One cigarette has 1 milligram of nicotine and 10 milligrams of tar. The packs are currently slated to be sold at 3500 outlets across Japan.
