Our reporter was walking through downtown Tokyo on Christmas Eve (alone, of course) when suddenly from behind a large posse of Santas on motorcycles came riding up from behind, filling the streets with the sound of roaring engines and holiday cheer.
After returning home (and still alone), our reporter checked the net and found that Twitter was abuzz with similar sightings.
St. Nick’s biker gang seemed to keep their activity limited to central Tokyo, riding through the Shibuya and Roppongi districts before disappearing into the mysterious northern wilderness (Saitama).
The ride is thought to have organized over Japanese internet message board 2channel. All the Santas obeyed traffic laws and waved to onlookers as they drove by.
