Rainbow Bridge, which spans across Tokyo Bay, is usually lit up with the colors of the rainbow at night. This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (called “Pink Ribbon Festival” in Japan), the usually multi-colored bridge will get a pink make-over to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Officials are hoping that the new pink colors of Tokyo’s iconic bridge will help remind the people of Japan about the importance of the “early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment” of breast cancer. The bridge will be lit up every day starting October 1 from sunset until midnight. To make this event possible, Nissan Motors have worked with city officials to provide power to the bridge using the Nissan LEAF and Nissan’s “LEAF to Home” energy supply system which draws power from the electric vehicle.
