In case you’ve been trapped under a giant boulder for the last few weeks, Japan – nay, the world – is currently once again gripped by Pokémon fever. Along with the new Pokémon X & Y titles for Nintendo 3DS, the new animated TV series is currently being lapped up by fans.
But one eagle-eyed viewer in Japan has spotted something both cute and a little odd in the show’s opening credits. In typically adorable fashion, a few seconds after the show’s opening song begins, everyone’s favourite pocket monster, Pikachu, gives the camera a friendly little kiss. But what on earth is going on inside his mouth!?
An image shared by Twitter user nanamaru shows what could well be to the gateway to another dimension in Pikachu’s tiny mouth.
The little kiss occurs around three seconds into the show’s opening sequence.
Noticing the camera, the ever-curious Pikachu pushes a pokéball aside and comes closer and closer to the lens. He then appears to plant a kiss, or “chu” in Japanese, right on our screens. A “reward”, the Twitter user writes, for us viewers.
But what’s the deal with that little rodent’s mouth!? Sure, he leaves a little cloud of condensation on the lens, but the inside of his looks extremely bright to us. We can’t help feeling that if we fell into it we’d come out floating around in space and see whole new universes being created.
We always knew he was magical!
