Housing in Tokyo is notoriously cramped, but this is ridiculous! With a total of 7.2 ㎡ (77.8 square feet) per floor (that’s smaller than the inside of Japan’s famously crowded train carriages), this towering five-story house packs a lot of rooms into a petite frame. So if you’ve ever fancied living in a tiny triangle, now’s your chance because this baby is on sale now!
According to Japanese housing site, Rehouse, this unbelievably cramped building was built back in February of 1991. All 36.17 ㎡ (389 square foot) of the house and its 9.51 ㎡ (102 square foot) lot are on sale now for 7.8 million yen (US$76,447). Located in Tokyo’s Kita Ward, it’s just on the outskirts of Japan’s capital, perfect for anyone working in the big city who’s not afraid of heights or close quarters.

Doesn’t look too bad, right? A little shaky on a windy day probably, but potentially comfortable. Now take a look at the inside:
▼ We hope you like climbing stairs!
But for what it lacks in space it makes up for in convenience. This skinny house is located right next to the Akabane-Iwabuchi Station on the Tokyo Metro Line and is only a nine minute walk to the Akabane Station on the JR Line. According to Rehouse, the building is currently occupied by the homeowners. We’d love to stop by to take a look around and also ask if they’ve ever had any accidents in the middle of the night on the way down the super steep stairs to the bathroom.
