Because isn’t it kind of depressing when your booby anime mousepad just sits there in silence?

Innovation is a never-ending process. An idea only remains groundbreaking, or technology cutting-edge, until someone else comes along and surpasses it.

For example, when Japanese company Softgarage tossed down the heavy and pillowy gauntlet of a 2.1-kilogtam (4.6-pound) mousepad shaped like an enormously busty character from the Dead or Alive video game franchise, it was the most unabashedly pervy mousepad we’d seen in quite some time. Fast forward to today, though, hardly a week later, and there’s already a challenge to that title coming from creative outfit Voppai.

Voppai gets its name from combining the English word “voice” with “oppai,” the Japanese word for “boobs.” And really, the company is lucky those two words flow together so smoothly, because it’s hard to think of a more perfect aand sucinct encapsulation of what Voppai’s products are: contoured mousepads bearing the likeness of a buxom anime girl who talks when you rub or squeeze her chest.

Even if you don’t speak a word of Japanese, you can probably tell from her tone of voice that Shizuku, the first of two original characters designed for the Voppai line, isn’t giving you advice on how to file your taxes. Instead, her breathy comments translate as:

“When you rub them gently, I get shivers.”
“Are you kind enough to like my boobs?”
“I…want to squeeze something between them, right here.”

As demonstrated in the video, the character’s dialogue changes depending on the location and strength with which the mousepad’s breast-shaped wrist rest is massaged.

Shizuku, who’s illustrated by Arachu Kitzuki and voiced by Mao Tachibana, is joined in the Voppai lineup by Mari, drawn by Buccha Yu and featuring the voice of Minami Imaya.

Neither mousepad is currently commercially available, but both were exhibited at the Character1 character content and merchandising expo held last weekend at Tokyo Big Sight.

While we doubt the legal department of the Hooters restaurant chain would be too thrilled about Voppai blatantly copying its uniform for Mari’s outfit, the endgame of the suggestive mousepad maker is no doubt to strike a deal with anime or video game rights holders to produce officially licensed products for series with ample-breasted fan favorite female characters. So while Shizuku and Mari can currently stick out their chests for having bested the ladies of Dead or Alive in over-the-top fan service, someday Voppai might be lending its very-specialized technological prowess to franchise it just one-upped.
