Hi everyone! Did you enjoy Sports Day in Japan?
In case you’re having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after a three-day weekend, we thought we’d share this amusing photo of one manga artist’s four cats stalking a helpless victim–a freshly grilled fish. Note to self: never grill fish when there are hungry cats around!
Keito Yoshikawa is a Tokyo-based manga artist who is known for his cat-themed stories. He even owns several cats in real life, and often shares photos of them on his Twitter account. One of those pictures, which was originally uploaded back in June, made me giggle as I’m sitting here with my stomach growling:

“I was surrounded after I grilled some horse mackerel [aji]…”
Yikes, just look at all those menacing kitty eyes staring straight at the camera! The poor guy might want to abandon his choice of dinner if he wants to come out of this ambush unscathed…
Mr. Yoshikawa’s works that are currently being published include Neko to futari no Kamakura techou [猫とふたりの鎌倉手帖] in Shinchosha’s Monthly Comics @ Bunch and Mozu ~soushiki tantei no aisatsu~ [モズ~葬式探偵のあいさつ~] in Shueisha’s office YOU monthly publication. You can also read Katagiri-kun ie ni neko ga iru [片桐くん家に猫がいる], which is the seven-volume prequel series that takes place before Neko to futari no Kamakura techou, for free (in Japanese) on Kurage Bunch‘s website. New installments are being uploaded every Friday.
▼What happens when Katakiri-kun and his five cats move to Kamakura? Read the comedic series about a young man and his daily life with feline friends to find out!
▼Neko to futari no Kamakura techou is the continuation of the series, which takes place after the main character gets married.
