The stunning sound and visuals in this new clip are designed to transport viewers to a Japanese festival as part of a new website for foreign tourists.
Japan’s acclaimed Kodo Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble continues to thrill audiences in Japan and around the world with their energetic and creative traditional taiko drum performances. Now, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has commissioned the group to be a part of their ambitious new web project, which aims to engage foreign visitors from abroad with the food and culture of Japan via their brand new “Is Japan Cool?” website.
The new website aims to draw audiences into the spirit of Japan like never before, with original movies and web content that “captures physical sensation and presence” to give viewers the feeling of actually being inside some of the country’s most spectacular festivals.
The special content bringing the festivals to life on the website is displayed in an exclusive movie called “Is Japan Cool? Matsuri with Kodo”. Filmed in one long, continuous take, the performance reveals a completely original new song centred on the theme of a Japanese matsuri festival, created especially for this project. To really make the viewer feel as if they’re in the midst of the actual performance, 3-D sound technology is used, which is designed to be enjoyed with headphones, as sound levels are fine-tuned and distributed to either the left or right ear according to the movement on screen.
▼ Check out the beautiful new clip below. Make sure you plug your headphones in for the full sensory experience!
There’s nothing like a stirring taiko performance from Kodo to inspire us to travel to Japan! It’s the easiest way to immerse yourself in the culture and tradition of Japan from the comfort of your home!
