The official website for the Oshiri Tantei (Butt Detective) web anime project began streaming a “Puputto Fumutto Kaiketsu Dance” (“A Wind-Breaking Victory Dance“) video on Friday.

In the video, the project’s titlular character and his dog assistant Brown perform a triumphant dance. TEMPURA KIDZ, a Harajuku-style dance and vocal unit known for performing as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu‘s back-up dancers, choreographed the dance.

The video features English, traditional Chinese, and Korean subtitles.

The end of the video features a 15-second promotional video for the “Oshiri Tantei Puputto Kaiketsu! Nazotoki Festival” (Butt Detective Wind-Breaking Victory! Mystery-Solving Festival) event, which will be held at the Ikebukuro Sunshine City complex in Tokyo from December 23 to January 8. The event will feature a ball pit, stage events, workshops, and a shop selling exclusive goods.

The first two main parts of the anime project are a trailer and an “Auto Rickshaw Chase in Port Town” video that debuted in May and August, respectively. The videos also feature English, traditional Chinese, and Korean subtitles.

The English part of the video description for the two videos reads:

He’s chivalrous, cunning, and his looks are anything “butt”…
Meet “Butt Detective”, a gentleman whose catch phrase is, “Hmm…I smell a case.”
Every day, he poots the big city’s cases to rest.

The anime is streaming on Toei Animation‘s YouTube channel and the YouTube KIDS app. Megumi Ishitani is directing the series.

Yuko Sanpei (Boruto) plays the title character, a detective whose face looks like a butt. Ayaka Saito (Jewelpet‘s Ruby) plays Oshiri Tantei’s assistant, a dog named Brown. Ikkei Watanabe is the narrator and the voice of Chief Maltese. The cast also stars Takahiro Sakurai (Mob Psycho 100‘s Reigen) as Kaitō U (Mysterious Thief U), Reika Uyama (Ronja the Robber’s Daughter‘s Birk) as Suzu-san, and Gaku Kudō as Būtarō.

Poplar published the first Oshiri Tantei book in Japan in 2012, and the series now has a total of six picture books and five books aimed at early grade schoolers. The books have more than 1.7 million copies in print.
