This Christmas, Japanese retail conglomerate Aeon is conjuring an ancient evil from a centuries-long slumber— and bringing it to the dinner table for your family to enjoy!
At the beginning of the month, Aeron launched their “Many Christmas” campaign, where each week they share a new unique holiday recipe for shoppers to try out.
This week’s recipe, pictured above, is a potato salad adorned with boiled shrimp and slices of hard-boiled egg topped with black olives. It sounds great on paper, and probably tastes fantastic as well. The problem is, they arranged it to look like something out of a Lovecraftian horror.
Aeon claims the potato salad was arranged to look like a “holiday decoration cake”, but we can’t recall the last time we were served a Christmas desert covered in serpentine eyes and a mass of tentacles.
The asparagus heads are a nice touch, though.
