This week at E3, Sony unveiled the design and retail price of the new PlayStation 4, but is still keeping us in the dark over expected release dates. However, an industry insider claims to have the lowdown on when we can expect the highly anticipated console to hit the shelves.

Gaming news site TheGameEffect received an anonymous tip from an employee at a leading supplier, claiming November 26, 2013 as the release date for the next-gen console.

With no official announcement from Sony’s end, this is still just a rumor, but the date indicated seems like perfect timing for a release. November 26 happens to be just before Black Friday, the infamous start of America’s competitive Christmas sales war. Black Friday this year falls on November 29, three days after the PS4’s supposed release date. With millions of consumers hungry to spend their cash in the run-up to Christmas, there couldn’t be a better time to release this highly anticipated console.

But who knows, maybe we’re all just so desperate for any scrap of information that we’ll believe anything at this point. Whatever the case, we’ll be waiting in anticipation with the rest of the gaming community for Sony’s official announcement.
