Well you’re in luck! We’ve found a totally bizarre but somehow completely awesome plastic model kit that you’ve probably never built before.
Our reporter came across this plastic model of four gyoza (dumplings) on Amazon Japan and just had to order it. It’s definitely not a difficult piece to complete, just snap the pieces together and you’re done. The package reads, “Plastic dumpling: an article of rare beauty in pursuit of the real texture and feel of a dumpling.” What a description! The manufacturer sure is enthusiastic about this fake food.
The model originally sells for 1365 yen (US$13.58) but is on sale for 991 yen (US$9.86). If you like dumplings, you’re sure to enjoy this plastic model kit. Our reporter noticed that there are no reviews for the kit on Amazon Japan. Is he the first to purchase this plastic dumpling kit? Who wouldn’t want to assemble their own inedible version of delicious dumplings? Weird.
