Have you ever been in a situation where you could have sworn you left an object in a certain place, yet couldn’t find it when you needed it, but it pops up at some unexpected place some time later? Have you ever thought that, perhaps there are tiny people hiding in your room, mischievously fiddling with your things?
That’s probably what fills the mind of Japanese designer and photographer, Tatsuya Tanaka, as he shows in his imaginative portfolio of miniature people having fun among everyday items around us!
When life gets too hectic, we’re sometimes too exhausted to think of anything apart from work or school, and our lives gradually turn into a monotonous, mundane, repetitive cycle. Sometimes, just by noticing the little things around us, and by looking at things from different perspectives, a boring regular day could turn into an interesting one.
As Tanaka said, “Broccoli and parsley might sometimes look like a forest, or the tree leaves floating on the surface of the water might sometimes look like little boats.” In order to express his thoughts and unique perspectives, he started creating the “Miniature Calendar”, a series of daily photographs of tiny people leading exciting lives among items we’re familiar with. Check them out!
Activate your imagination today and take a look around you! You might just find the shadows of tiny beings taking shelter under some dishes, or playing hide and seek in a bag of chips. If you couldn’t catch sight of any mini people, fret not, you can always follow Tanaka on Twitter or Instagram to check out his daily contributions!
