KFC Japan has announced it is getting in on the fast food giant’s tie up with international soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo starting April 28 by offering new menu items at all Japanese stores. Ronaldo’s face may be all over this stuff, but something tells me this kind of fully fried meal doesn’t actually go in his face very often…
The first new item will be the Ronaldo Pack, which allows customers to choose a customizable combination of original fried chicken, extra crispy chicken, fried fish and a new side item, doughnut balls, for 1,000 yen (US$9.78). The doughnut balls, fried dollops of dough, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside and served with a maple dipping sauce, will also be available as a side order for 150 yen ($1.46).
On May 8th, another option will become available: the Ronaldo One Box. This 750 yen ($7.33) set comes with one piece of fried chicken, a small order of french fries, a small soda and the customer’s choice of one of four sandwiches: a chicken filet, a Japanese-style chicken cutlet, fried fish or a Twister wrap.
KFC is also offering 1,500 fans a chance to win Ronaldo promotional goods like folders and water bottles by entering their receipt number on a special website.
If you are a fan of fried food, soccer or paid endorsements, get yourself to KFC this week, try the new menu, then take to Twitter to let Ronaldo know how his balls taste.
