Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed in an interview with video game news website Eurogamer that the Pikmin 4 game is “very close to completion.”
Nintendo confirmed the game’s development with Eurogamer in a separate statement, saying: “”e can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”
Neither Miyamoto or Nintendo confirmed what platform Pikmin 4 is being developed for.
Miyamoto previously confirmed in January that Nintendo will continue to make Pikmin games.
The Pikmin series of strategy games allows players to control creatures called Pikmin in an effort to explore an unknown planet and survive against predatory adversaries, using the special properties of each kind of Pikmin to navigate the game environment.
Nintendo released the first game in the series on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2001. Nintendoreleased the latest game in the series, Pikmin 3, on the Wii U in 2013.
