You know a manga is really successful and popular when producers want to make a stage version of it.
Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin and Black Butler are a just few of the anime that have made the jump to musical or comical live-theater versions. And soon Japan’s off, off, off-Broadway stages will be able to add another name to that growing list as Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail heads to Ikebukuro’s Sunshine Theatre in spring 2016!
As with many initial announcements, details are very limited but one important member of the cast has been revealed. The main character of Fairy Tail, Natsu Dragneel, a man immune to flame, will be played by Shuto Miyazaki, a member of the young male actors group D-Boys.
▼ They have similar lop-sided scowls!

The script will be written by Director Akiko Kodama, who has written and directed many plays for the all-women’s troupe, Takarazuka. Her last anime/theatre project was a little ninja number called Naruto the Live Spectacular, so hopefully she will be able to bring the same energy and theatrics to the Fairy Tail stage adaptation.
The show will officially run from April 30 to May 9, 2016, which means we are likely to learn more about the cast and story very soon. Be sure to stay tuned for more information.
