Sure, Garrett Popcorn is tasty whatever container it comes in, but this makes it extra special!
When Garrett Popcorn came out with sakura themed tins in Japan two years ago, the consumers here apparently took such a liking to them that the special containers seem to have become a yearly tradition. This year’s “SAKURA” Tins come in a particularly stylish (and very kawaii) design created in collaboration with sweets-themed accessory maker Q-pot.
Produced by fashion magazine model turned accessory designer Tadaaki Wakamatsu, the SAKURA Tin for this year is based on the concept of a “Cherry Blossom Party” and is made in the image of a double-layered sakura meringue and cherry cake, while also incorporating Garrett’s trademark stripes in the color of pink sakura blossoms.
Plus, you can even do some good by purchasing their popcorn in one of these SAKURA Tins! Part of the sales from the SAKURA Tins will go to the international NGO Save the Children Japan for their efforts to distribute kits for safe childbirth to pregnant women in Myanmar as well as activities to support the health and nutrition of children in Vietnam.
And to add further to your spring-time fun this year, you’ll receive a lovely plastic picnic sheet also in the collaborative sakura design as a gift if you buy two or more cans of their popcorn in SAKURA Tins.
▼ Doesn’t a sheet like this make you want to go out on a picnic right now?
The SAKURA Tins will be sold at all six Garrett Popcorn shops in Japan from March 1 to mid-April while supplies last and will be available in two sizes, the one-quart Tin (priced from 1,130 yen [US$9.91] and up, depending on the popcorn flavor) and the one-gallon Tin (2,800 yen [$24.57] and up).
Well, we think this could be the perfect snack, or snack container at least, to take with you to a Spring picnic or get-together. The delightful design and color will be sure to brighten things up, even if the sakura flowers aren’t in bloom!
