Yes, we know what day it is, but they insist it’s real!
Gokujo Ubau! Pantsu Korekushon is a soon-to-be released game being produced by DMM, whose name you might recognize from their desktop dancing robots and 3-D printing services. However, the company has their fingers in quite a few more pies, including producing games, so it’s not really shocking news to learn that they’ll be debuting a new game this month.
But the timing of the news certainly had quite a few Internet commenters scratching their heads. And, we suppose, the fact that this is a game where you battle high school girls for their panties probably didn’t help the immediate credibility of the game either.
▼ And yet, here is the pre-registration site…
Of course, this is hardly the first game to feature panties on dipslay (or to be entirely based on collecting panties), but registration for Panty Collection (or PanKore) opened up at March 31 midnight, which you might recognize as officially the beginning of April Fools’ Day. Add to that the fact that this is the kind of game that would make most anyone person blush, and we couldn’t help wondering if this wasn’t just a prank DMM was pulling.
▼ A prank that Famitsu was in on?

And we’re not the only ones to notice — several Twitter users and commenters on various news articles have asked: “Wait, are you sure this isn’t an April Fools’ Day joke?” In their report on the game, Niconico News even went out of their way to specify that this isn’t a joke.
But we still weren’t convinced, so we called DMM’s customer support line and repeatedly asked, “Wait, are you sure this is real?” Displaying extraordinary patience, the representative on the line answered in the affirmative each time. This is for real.
It turns out the game isn’t 100 percent original either — it’s based in the world of Gokujyo: Gokurakuin Joshikōryō Monogatari, a manga about high school girls which does involve some underwear theft. The game will apparently feature characters from the manga and high school girls from all over Japan battling each other for their underroos.
If you’re still feeling skeptical, we can’t say we really blame you — we’re still hoping this is as real as the new NX game controller.
